Our mission
Our mission is to give every child and young person placed with us the stability, care and belief in their own future that they deserve — through a settled home, consistent relationships, and support that helps them heal, build confidence, and move forward positively into adulthood.
Our values
These principles guide every decision we make, from how we design our home to how we support the people who work in it.
Safety first
Safeguarding is never treated as a checklist. It shapes our recruitment, our supervision, our physical environment and our daily routines.
Respect and dignity
Every young person is treated as an individual with their own history, identity and voice — not defined by the reasons they came into care.
Consistency
Stable staffing, predictable routines and clear boundaries, so that young people can build trust in the adults around them.
Partnership
Honest, timely communication with social workers, families (where appropriate) and other professionals involved in a young person's life.
Aspiration
Encouraging education, interests and independence skills, so young people leave our care better equipped for adult life.
Accountability
Openness to scrutiny — from Ofsted, from placing authorities, and from independent reviewing officers — as a matter of course, not an inconvenience.
Our approach to residential care
We follow a therapeutic approach to residential care, recognising that many of the young people who come to us have experienced trauma, loss or instability before they arrive. Our staff are trained to see behaviour as a form of communication, to build trust through consistent, patient relationships, and to create an environment where young people feel safe enough to make real progress — rather than simply managing behaviour in the moment.
We support children and young people aged 8 to 17. Placement length varies according to each young person's care plan and circumstances, ranging from shorter placements while longer-term plans are developed, through to longer, more settled placements.
For our current Ofsted registration status, Statement of Purpose, complaints procedure and safeguarding policies, see Registration, policies & key documents on our Referrals page.
Our leadership
Westmere Care Limited is led by its two founding directors. In line with safeguarding practice, we do not publish personal addresses or other private details.
